Cheap cottages for a family weekend break in Wales

LLanwenarth Cottage

In four idyllic acres of lawned garden in the Usk Valley, we move on to a breathtaking cottage surrounded by the hills of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

With a private spot for parking at the front, the holiday home comprehends one single bed, an extra-large double bed, a lounge/diner, a kitchen, and one full bathroom and a half bathroom upstairs.

In the well kept outdoor visitors particularly enjoyed the barbecue and the hand made bar.

A perfect (and inexpensive) family holiday in South Wales.

Totters Townhouse

In Caernarfon is a comfortable three-bedroom house for the whole family which is part of Totter’s hostel.

The Townhouse features one en-suite bathroom, one shared bathroom between the other two rooms and an open living space equipped with a kitchen, a table with chairs and sofas to relax in front of the tv.

Plenty of off-site activities, in the vicinities, are available including horse riding, hiking, canoeing, fishing and play ares.

Oak Mead

From the french doors, you can go out onto a small patio which offers delightful views of the countryside.

In the village of Rossett just outside The Golly are lively pubs and restaurants for a local meal.

Hen Efail - Old Smithy

In Tregaron, nearby many attractions and the Cambrian Mountains, we have found a charming and inexpensive cottage that allows a four-legged friend.

With rustic and country-style interiors, the lodge has two spacious bedrooms, a living area with a log burner, a dining space, and an equipped kitchen.

Ideally located guests that stayed here particularly enjoyed exploring the area with its popular sites, including Cors Caron. 

Porfa Wyrdd

A great base to explore the welsh coast and Harlech and adjacent to working farms, Porfa Wyrd, boasts incredible mountain views.

Featuring an enclosed garden, people that stayed here particularly liked the spacious lounge, the equipped kitchen, and the patio with outdoor furniture.

Upstairs are three bedrooms, one with an en-suite and a family bathroom. 

In Harlech, you’ll find the 13th Century Castle, the Royal St. David’s Golf Club and the local beach.


Nestled in a quiet location with mountain views, Cilcain​ is a cosy detached chalet for a private family holiday in North-East Wales.

A traditional country style characterized the interior space of the lodge, featuring a downstairs sitting/dining room, a galley-style kitchen and two bedrooms upstairs.

Located in Denbigh, Y Stabl is a charming and highly rated two-bedroom rental home. 

Composed of two stories, the ground floor offers a spacious living room with sofas and a dining table, a fully equipped kitchen, while the two bedrooms with a double bed and two singles bed plus a luxurious bathroom with a bath are located up the stairs.

People that stayed here pointed out the great position of the accommodation to explore the stunning seaside town of Llandudno only a few minutes from coastal and beach walks.

Orlando Llandundo Apartment

Within the centre of Llandudno, a few minute’s walk from the beach and pier we found a renovated and comfortable apartment for a short break.

Including free parking, the accommodation accommodates a family with one bedroom with a double bed, a sofa bed, a fitted kitchen and a spacious family bathroom. 

Llandudno North Shore Beach, Llandudno West Shore Beach, and Conwy Morfa are all within walking distance with great walks and a charming city to visit. 

Ynys Lawd

Tucked away on Holyhead marina with direct views of the sea and the marina, we found a luxurious two bedrooms apartment for a family looking for a low-price weekend break on the Welsh coast.

One bedroom has a double bed while the second room has a king-size bed, then a family bathroom, a kitchen and a living room with views complete the living spaces.

Locally are great walks to South Stack, and Newry beach or drive to Trearddur Bay for more stunning beaches.

The Inalong Apartment

This lodging is a unique, quirky, and pet-friendly option for a family looking for a short break in the Mumbles.

Cheap glamping for a family weekend break in Wales


With Hazel pod, part of Parcglas Pods, we are looking at another family-friendly glamping option with unspoiled views of the Carmarthenshire countryside and mountains in a calm and private spot in St Clears.

Inside can sleep two adults and two children with the double bed and the sofa bed. It is a self-catering chalet with a kitchenette, a dining table, a full bathroom and a private garden.

In the enclosed outdoor area is garden furniture, a barbecue and plenty of space for your furry friend to roam freely.

Brynllwyd Glamping

For the more adventurous families looking for an inexpensive break from the city, we present a lovely glamping option in Devils Bridge.

With all the luxuries of a home, the chalet comprises a double bed, a bunk bed, a sofa bed, a kitchenette, a dining table and a modern en-suite.

Outdoor on the decked patio you can relax in the hot tub stargazing, or barbecue and eat alfresco dining in the seating furniture. 

Devil’s Bridge is just a short drive away from the pod where visitors could walk the trail with stunning views and a majestic waterfall. 


Now we move to West Wales, where these glamping pods are a great option to unwind with the family for a low price on the grounds of Broadway Country House.

Both pods can sleep a family of two adults and two children and provide a barbecue on the private decked patio with the addition of a picnic table for alfresco dining, but just one includes a cosy hot tub.
